The ‘modulopital’
The ageing population drives the need for hospitals to become modular, with geriatric wards. This provides a more focused area for managing older patients with co-morbidities and increased prevalence of dementia. The focusing of older patients into separate geriatric wards acts as an enabler for greater integration of health and social care. This is because patients are rehabilitated and re-abled back into the community.
