Rise of a ‘psychologically minded’ society
The recognition of mental health issues and diagnosis increases, as patients are able to recognise the importance of mental health problems and the need to address them. Society becomes more ‘psychologically minded’ as there is an increased recognition of mental illness as a significant aspect of well-being. This results in a focus on the challenges presented by mental illness to the healthcare system, particularly on the thresholds between primary and secondary care.
