Pharmacoeconomics roles increase
Rising costs and the drive for efficiency across all domains leads to an increase in the number of pharmacoeconomic posts. Pharmacoeconomists are employed solely for the purpose of ensuring that the most cost-effective use of medicines and technology-led practice is transferred to the generalist pharmacy workforce. Challenging the cost of existing routines is currently viewed as part of the day-to-day role of the practice pharmacist.
Proposed workforce impact
- Increased number of pharmacoeconomist posts.
- Pharmacoeconomics is given greater emphasis in undergraduate training.
