Migration and refugees
In certain areas, services will continue to support mothers born outside the UK, including refugees. This group tends to be younger than the population as a whole and has a higher total fertility rate (currently 2.51 compared to the average of 2.0). This group will require additional services such as interpreters, and some mothers may have non-pregnancy-related conditions such as tuberculosis.
