Midwifery models of risk versus medical models

Midwives utilise a social model of care that focuses on wellness. The implications of this are a focus on prevention (which aligns with public health goals), limiting interventions and encouraging normal births. Complex care, which is rising, and women’s choice (such as requests for C-sections) will require the full backup of medical provision.
