Introduction of a sub consultant grade

The shape of training review recommends the introduction of a sub-consultant grade that is then implemented. This provides financial benefits to the health sector. However, people working at the sub-consultant grade are often expected to fulfil the roles and responsibilities of more senior doctors, leading to attrition and a lower quality of service provision.
