Increasing labour migration
UK-trained pharmacists migrate to richer countries. Income, job prospects, career development and lifestyle all influence labour migration and global shifts in wealth have a large impact on the supply pool.
Proposed workforce impact
- Any investment in the development and training of migrant workers will be lost if they leave the UK workforce.
- Fewer vacancies are available for newly qualified UK pharmacists.
