Technology could have an increased role in SLT work in the justice sector, but there are unique challenges to face in closed environments.

Technology could have an increased role in SLT work in the justice sector, but there are unique challenges to face in closed environments. Inmates do not have internet access and the self-care technology that may be used by SLTs in the community is not appropriate in secure units. Tablet devices have been trialled as part of a virtual campus on the patient intranet. The balance between security and therapy always needs to be assessed.
