Increased use of doulas and support of fathers

There will be increased use of doulas, and fathers will be encouraged to play a larger role in parenting. Doulas represent a cost to services and the role’s utilisation is likely to increase in the future. This shaper has the potential to reduce demand slightly on other maternity staff directly and indirectly through improved health and social outcomes for mothers and their babies.
