Increased social deprivation drive demand
There is a well-established link between health inequality and health need, and this link is also present with speech and language difficulties.
The gap between the rich and the poor has been increasing, as well as the number of families living in poverty. This is likely to increase demand on SLT services. This social deprivation increase may also be linked to regional inequalities, therefore requiring targeted recruitment to make sure the level of demand is met.
