Increased awareness of public mental health
Current health policy emphasises public health and prevention strategies and subsequently more money is being spent on prevention over secondary treatment. A social approach also plays a key role in the demise of public health.
Proposed workforce impact
- Psychiatrists need to consider how to implement secondary prevention into their practice
- Greater inter-disciplinary working of public health professionals and psychiatrists
