Every doctor does acute and community training
Following the recommendations from the Shape of Training review and Future Hospital Commission, every doctor does acute and community training for a number of years after their rotations in foundation 1 and 2. This provides a workforce with an increased level of generalist skills able to provide service delivery in acute settings. This provides the health sector with adequately staffed acute wards and better quality of care.
Proposed workforce impact
- There is an increase in service provision.
- There is an increase in experience of acute medical care and therefore increased numbers into the specialty.
