European Working Time Directive
ETWD impacts on training and quality of care as it reduces the number of hours doctors are allowed to work and train for, e.g. trainees would have been called out at night to observe interesting surgery as a learning experience in the past but this no longer happens.
Proposed workforce impact
- Doctors may take longer to become experienced than they would have in the past, meaning proportionally less of their career is spent gaining this experience and training.

Additional research questions
- Can the EWTD be changed or overridden if Britain remains in the EU?
