Demand for community-based psychiatrists
The demand for more community-based care, 24/7 hospital care (with either a consultant-driven or consultant-present service) and concerns about the future of psychiatry as a medical speciality result in the role of the psychiatrist evolving so that, for example, more care is delivered in the community and there is a greater level of programmed activity.
