Community care policy lacks clarity in implementing funding and training
There are many policy statements about moving more care to the community but implementation details are vague in terms of funding, provision, staff training and system redesigning.
A feature of current Government policy is moving care to the community as opposed to acute settings such as hospitals. But many implementation details have not been finalised.
For example: How much funding will be required, and how will this funding be resourced?
What staff training will be needed to adapt to this change, and how will the current system need redesigning in response? How will the changes that will be required be achieved?
All these questions need answering before the shift to community care can be complete.
