Availability of high-quality placement roles
The availability and accessibility of student placements is not sustainable and proportionate to student trainee numbers. Demand exceeds supply and the concept of privately funded placements emerges to ensure supply to the private sector is maintained.
Proposed workforce impact
- Lack of high-quality placements leads to a delay in new graduates reaching the workforce.
- Higher student attrition leads to a reduction in the supply of pharmacists.
- Potential trainees defer to alternative degree pathways.

Additional research questions
- Are there strategies in place to deal with the situation of fewer placements?
